More than Just Fried Green Tomatoes

So what do you do with a vine full of green tomatoes that have no plans of turning red anytime soon? Here's one idea I found...
Green Tomato Cake...yup cake...I decided to give it a try for our...

"Sunday Funday Family Diner" dessert!

Oh My Gosh...it is one of my new favorite cakes ever!

It is moist and dense and chewy and delicious! Similar to carrot cake...
No one was able to guess the "secret ingredient"!

I added a sweet icing with a touch of pineapple flavor! Yummy!
Green Tomato Cake Recipe

Our main course was a Fall Vegetable Beef Soup...

A very large pot of soup!
Our game for the night was "Mexican Train" (a game played with dominoes)
Another fun family night filled with food, fun, friends and family!
The count last night was ten...

By the way, thanks to everyone for their game suggestions for our get-togethers. We are going to add them to our "play list"!

i am one of those that like tomato products but not tomatoes.
Now, I'm sure you are going to tell me "you can't taste them" and I'm sure you are right but I would have a hardtime knowing there were tomatoes in my cake. I know..I'm weird.
I've never heard on the /Mexican Train game. How do you play?

  8. I have heard of a Tomato Soup Cake but never a green tomato cake. Very interesting. We love fried green tomatoes but I would have to sneak this one in on Hubs and then tell him what it is.

  20. I've never heard of tomato cake! I'm not a big fan of tomatoes but I do love carrot cake so if it's similar maybe this is the way to eat tomatoes... no surprises it would involve cake!

  26. Absolutely fantastic sounding (and looking!) dessert. I think this recipe makes total sense. Why not put the moistness of tomatoes to good use in a cake? We already do it with carrots, zucchini, and sweet potato, amongst other produce aisle staples.

Awesome post, sweet dear, thank you for sharing!
