Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie jar?

Don't you just love "Cookie Exchanges"?
I left home with these...

And I came home with all of these!!!

It feels like I "stole the cookies from the cookie jar"!
I baked one dozen cookies for each participant...
and came home clutching a dozen each of their homemade goodies!
My daughter was happy when she got home from school today...
Yummy!

{Surprises in my mailbox}

Can you imagine my excitement to find this package waiting at my doorstep?

It was huge!

My friend, Marfi at Incepient Wings was having a giveaway to celebrate HER birthday,
which is this Saturday December 11th....well...
I won the giveaway and it actually became a gift for MY birthday,
which is tomorrow December 9th.
I felt like a kid opening up a fabulous present!
And I was definitely not disappointed.
In fact I was showered with delightful surprises!
Marfi...you really outdid yourself!
Thank you so much!
Look what I received!
Can you believe my good fortune!
Pop Tarts, Toe Socks, Candy and Tea.
Sprinkles, a t-shirt and perfume for me.
A candle, a journal, marshmallows and more.
Ornaments, a towel and earrings I adore!
A garland, a banner some candles to light,
Not to mention sweet "Sugar Lump"
She's such a delight!

She even sent me one of her critter creations, "Sugar Lump"!

Isn't she darling?
Thank you so very much, Marfi!
Your  generosity was certainly not lost here!
What a way to kick off my birthday!

{Showers of Christmas Blessings}

 A year of unexpected changes
it all seemed so unreal
called to look beyond our plans
pain difficult to conceal

Now looking back it all makes sense
although it seemed  a huge expense
the love we share...the time we spare
the sacrifices of those who care
the truth we speak...the joy we seek
the ups & downs we lift in prayer

the heart is truly our prize possession
for it reveals our deep discretions
the gift of grace from Christ alone
is the most important thing we own

Our Christmas tree is small and bright
adorned with umbrellas that shine in the light
showered with blessings when it was difficult to cope
we never lost our faith and hope

So we celebrate...we jingle bells
we trim our home and wish all well
We bid farewell to what we had...and realize "Heck...it ain't so bad"!

Merry Christmas

Ahhh...Cottage Cozy Soup!

A warm & hearty soup on this cold and rainy day!
(Since we were out of town for Thanksgiving I had some food in the fridge
I wanted to use up before it spoiled!)

Just grab what you have on hand...
and make a big pot of "comfort stew"!

I threw in some carrots, lean ground beef, onions, cabbage and a frozen bag of chow mein I wanted to use up!  Add to that a can of tomatoes, some vegetable broth and even a little bit of canned pumpkin I had leftover in the fridge. I also had some fat free sour cream I threw in!  Some spices and there you have it!
It was delish and healthy too!

Stay Cozy,
Carrie

From Messy to Marvelous!

When we downsized to our townhouse I wasn't sure what to do
with my collection of scarves.
I love to wear scarves...to me they are like wearing a necklace!
I had been keeping them in this black trunk....
which was fine until I needed to actually wear them!

It is getting cold here...and looking through the endless pile of tangled mufflers
was getting old...fast.   Hmmm...what to do?
A simple curtain rod and a couple of tools....and...it's an "ah-ha" moment!

And now there is plenty of room in the trunk for my shawls!
YES ~ it feels good to be organized!
Bring on the snow!

A Pitcher Full....

Today is my friend's birthday
I am meeting her at Starbuck's for a cup of coffee
...and a pitcher of happy wishes!
This is my gift for her.

I found this lovely ceramic pitcher and filled it with
a fun kitchen apron...
and a bag of my homemade
"Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins"!

These muffins should be the perfect touch for our "coffee party"!
Look at that yummy cream cheese filling!

Happy Birthday, Marsha!

Here is the recipe for you...

I made some plain and some with chopped walnuts on top!

Pretty in Pastels...

I added some fun flocked bottle brush trees
to my ETSY shop today!
They are great for creating a wonderful Christmas display!

There is no denying that Christmas is on its way!

A Fun Find...

Do you ever have Friday Family Game Night?
I am always on the hunt for new games to add to our collection...
And is this not the cutest "Coffee Table" Game ever?

I found it at the thrift store...
in perfect "new to me" condition!
It is just so cute with the little plastic cups & saucers, folding coaster game board
and it's wonderful wooden storage box!

It's only a "two player game" but heck...
sometimes "family" game night turns into "Me & My Hubby" game night!

And the price was certainly right....$2.99!
It's the kind of game you can just leave out...
...because it looks cool!

What games do you like to play!
