The Garage....my treasured extra room...

Do you have extra dishes, glassware and even small appliances
that you have no space for in your house?
Where do you keep them for easy access?
Do you have a spare room or maybe a closet or attic?

Mine are stashed on shelves in my garage.

Since we downsized two years ago there's just no room in the house...
and though it may not look like it...
I have truly gotten rid of a lot of stuff!
Being an avid thrift store/garage sale shopper... I am always coming across
pretty plates or glasses that will be perfect for that special party or get-together.

I have put to use many different containers and storage units
to help keep it all organized. (to some degree)

....and since I love to bake....I have many baking and cooking supplies too...

...and then of course there are the cleaning supplies,
meds and vitamins and all the misc stuff that needs a home too!
There just aren't enough cupboards in my townhouse!
So I Say....
Thank goodness for my garage....it is truly an extra room for me...
And believe it or not...I can actually park my car inside there too!

Stay cozy...
Carrie

  1. You've done so great at organizing. It gets too hot in our garage here in Florida for some things. We have to be careful! But we sure don't have enough storage space here either. I have too much in my cabinets!

  3. Lucky you! Our garage here is really just a leaky old barn! I do hope to be very organized if we can buy our own home again!

  4. Hi Carrie..I always give away the excess. If I buy more I make decisions about what I keep and what goes, that way I only own what fits in my cupboards in the kitchen or dining room. I don't mind passing stuff on to people who need it more than I do.

  6. I am so jealous that you can use your garage. My husband uses ours for carpentry and it is hard to keep it clean. I love your storage ideas.

  13. I have lots of knick knacks and little treasures I can't part with,
I store them in our storage near the garage... it is hard to be a pack rat.

  14. What a great idea. Unfortunately my husband has banished the ride on mower etc from our garage so that he can put all HIS workshop 'stuff' in!! Seeing what you've done has made me think though. You visited me and now I have visited you and joined your followers so I can learn some more good ideas! Thanks. Joan

  21. I am impressed with your organizational skills, Carrie. It can be a challenge to keep all of our treasures "under control". I love to thrift shop too and it seems like I'm always finding little things I can't live without. Luckily I have a big walk in attic to store it in.
Thank you so much for your kind comments. It means a lot to me.
    Hugs,

  22. Hi Carrie
Oh my you DO have lots of dishes and baking and cooking items. You have them very well organized in your garage...lucky you!
I have them in a storage area not very close to my kitchen and I've had to cut back on buying more.
Just what I need I guess....
    I love dishes though.
    thank you for sharing.
    Have a great evening.

  24. You are so organized and everything is so CLEAN. Even when we had a garage and I had big cabinets with doors, everything got so dirty. I'm more than impressed. Your cleaning supply corner is amazing too. So much inspiration to organize...
