~the RAINBOW house~

What would the "front door color test" from yesterday
reveal about this house?

We came across this house in Hood River, Oregon recently when we went to a B & B for our anniversary... read their story at the end!
 Isn't it fantastic?

Even the cars match the house!

Wouldn't you just love to see the inside???

The story I heard is that the owners had put different colored light bulbs in the light fixtures along the wall and didn't think much about it until somebody didn't like it and got mad about it...went to the city..etc etc...until it became a big ordeal and they were told they could not have different colored light bulbs!
The owners had enough...they liked their colored lights...so they decided they would paint their house...nobody could do anything about that....hence...the "Rainbow House" with regular white light bulbs!

I wonder what the color test would reveal about them?
I am not even sure what color the front door is?

You can take the test to see what your front door color says about you too!

  1. Funny - that house is about a mile from where I live. I can't say I love it but it's definitely some 'local color'! Hope you had a great time in Hood River. -amy

  2. just love it Carrie...I would welcome that kind of house in our neighborhood...it would add some spunk...I have a black door...mmmm
You are elegant, fashionable, and quite intimidating.
You wield a lot of power. And that's what scares people!
You are reserved and difficult to know.
Those who know you know that you are strong, consistent, and reliable. I don't think I agree with all of that lol...
I certainly don't want to scare people...me? lol..

  5. Wow, that is really an interesting house. I bet the person who didn't like the lights wishes they would have kept quiet about it. I think it looks cute.

  8. A great house, and a great story. That look would solve my problem of never being able to commit to a color scheme. ;)

  12. It is intriquing to me the things one does that can totally annoy others. Here is a good example. I do like seeing the final result. My colorful friend would love these colors on a house.

  23. I love the way they have made their point creatively. I think the way they have just painted the window frames and concrete work and other details without actually painting big blocks of colour on the house walls is very clever. I have enjoyed reading your blog tonight and love the way you cherish your family.

  24. We are part of the Crawford family. We lived here in the rainbow house for 3 years before it was the rainbow house. It was a cool big old house.

  26. Actually that's my moms house and she just loves bright fun colors. The blue roof she saw on a house in paia Maui and had to have it! There is some truth to a pissing match with the city and that can be found on the side walk on 6th street. Those little colored tiles in the cement were her protest to them not allowing her to garden in an area that is on her property but they decided was an easement. And yes the inside (for the most part) is just as colorful as the outside. The garage doors were done by artist Dorothy Gillespie.

    1. Danielle. Did she design it herself or have someone help?! I need to know who that is. I want this house where I live!
