A West Elm "steal"

I was soooo excited to find this table at my Goodwill Store the other day...
I knew I wanted it the minute I saw it. My husband was with me - but he wasn't so sure. It was marked $19.99! I told him if it didn;t work out in the kitchen we could use it outside for a potting table at that price.
(although I knew it would be perfect lol)

We had to go back and pick it up the next day and as my husband and the store employee turned it over to take the legs off to fit in the car...there is was...
a "West Elm" sticker!

Funny how my husband's opinion of the table immediately changed...haha...as he whispered,
"Shhh don't say anything" ... as if they might notice and take it back from us.

Well needless to say it works beautifully in our kitchen and we both love it!

When we got it home I, of course, looked to find it on the West Elm website!

And sure enough there it was...

The lower shelf was missing - but that was fine with me as it gave me room to push my stools underneath. On their website the description reads :

What a steel. The stainless-steel surface of our Rustic Kitchen Island pays homage to zinc-topped counters from Parisian bistros, while sturdy legs in acacia wood warm things up.
It's just as ideal for slicing and dicing as it is for mixing and mingling.
 $599

A "steal" indeed - for us!

Stay Cozy,
 Carrie

  5. I cannot believe you only paid $19.99 for this treasure. It was obviously meant to go home with you. You do find the most amazing bargains, don't you. May I say, you have a beautiful kitchen and your West Elm treasure looks perfect sitting there; it looks right at home!

  15. Oh my gosh Carrie what a great find. Don't you just do the happy dance when things like this happen. I found two counter chairs for $20 and when I got them home they were from Ballards and I was looking at them on their website and they were $200 each. So that was a happy dance score for me. Wooo Hooo!
So happy and it looks awesome in your kitchen.

  21. Well done! It looks fantastic in your kitchen...do not use it as a potting table, although I do have one that has a stainless steel top like that--a little gift from hubby. But NOT West Elm.!! Those 'bruised and get rid of' deals are so cool. I understand Target and Pottery Barn frequently donate to Goodwill. Good for you!

Thanks always for your visits--I hadn't realized I wasn't following you. I am now. x

  27. What a great find! Can you imagine someone donating a zinc topped table? I'd sure like to see what's in their house if they were getting rid of it. It looks perfect in your kitchen, which I must say is beautiful anyway. It fits it and is an anchor piece.

We found a darling $19.99 piece at GW recently, a large wood framed mirror, actually a triple mirror where the small ends move that obviously used to be on a dresser. Made in the US. My husband separated the 3 pieces and hung them on the bedroom wall and I love it every time I see it.

    Happy GW hunting to you,
    Dewena
