Forget about the bottled dressings at the supermarket....
Making your own vinaigrette is so easy!
Just blend together...
3 parts olive oil ~ 2 parts vinegar ~ 1 part mustard (any flavor)
and add one of these extras:
1 part sriracha ~ 1 part grapefruit or pineapple juice ~ 1 chopped hard cooked egg
Voila!
Of course once you have the basics ~ go ahead and experiment!
It's healthier, it's cheaper and it tastes delicious!
And don't sweat over the fat in the olive oil...it is so good for you!
A salad a day keeps the "flu bugs" away!
Stay Well, Carrie
I love making my own dressing....oooo now I'm in the mood for salad!

Love homemade vinaigrette!
ReplyDeleteI don't make my own dressings nearly as often as I should, but you have inspired me to get going. I'm especially intrigued by the addition of a chopped egg. I wouldn't have thought of that one, but it sure sounds yummy.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so good, Carrie. And no preservatives! Thanks!

I am going to copy to recipe for my daughter. She'll love it! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love making my own dressings too...a friend of ours made a great one last time we had dinner with them and it couldn't be simpler...avocado...mushed...add rice vinegar to thin...that's it...delicious!!
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting. May have to give it a try.

Sounds delicious! I've never made my own salad dressing, but have wanted to and this seems like a good one to start with ~ I like the addition of the egg...yummy!

Definitely beats the store purchased bottled dressings for sure. Those French jam jars are the perfect storage, too.

I make my own dressing all the time. So much better. I like your idea to use pineapple juice in it. I'll have to try that next time.
