Today was a comfort food kind of day.
And what better way to cook comfort food then in my crock pot!
There's just nothing quite better than walking in the door
to the wonderful aroma of a crock pot meal!
And it's so easy....almost no preparation at all!
I put a pork loin roast into the pot, added a half dozen chunky
sliced potatoes, a chopped onion, a bag of fresh mushrooms,
and a can of cream of celery soup.
It magically becomes a delicious, good-for-the soul,
cottage cozy meal.
Add a salad or a scoop of veggies and you are good to go!
DID YOU KNOW.....
Since 1970, the Crock Pot has been making meal preparation so much easier for many of us, but the funny thing is that it was actually a 'what if' byproduct of an earlier invention, the "beanery", intended for use in the cooking of beans.
Soon enough it became clear that the beanery appliance had another potential use: it could be used to cook various types of meat, and what's more, it could do so better than it did with beans. Soon after the modern Crock Pot slow cooker was born!
The first Rival Crock Pot slow cooker was released to the domestic market in 1971.
It came with a basic crock interior, a glass lid, and a bright red exterior.
What do you like to toss into your crock pot?
Stay Cozy,
Carrie
Usually spaghetti sauce then we cook it for over 24 hours, last week I did chicken with some chicken broth, cooked it for 8 hours adding later potatoes and carrots. It was good.

I don't use ours much unless we are having a party or a larger gathering. I must admit that I have a fear of leaving it unattended during the day while at work.
ReplyDeleteYour meal looks yummy though.

Love your title:)
ReplyDeleteI never had a crockpot, but I need to get one and SOON! Your recipe looks delicious and I love the idea of simply putting a few ingredients in a pot and letting it do its magic! Thanks for sharing the history too...very interesting.

We do a hole chicken, or pork or beef roast....topped with large jar of Pace Picante sauce....cook slow about 10 hours....
ReplyDeleteDrain in strainer, shred with forks.
Then we put in baggies holding the amount for a meal (in our case for two).
Freeze all little bags in one large freezer bag.
When you're ready for a killer burrito night, dump frozen ____ out to the bag into a bowl and microwave about 9 minutes till heated! Heat can of refried beans. While that is happening shred cheese, dice onion, tomato, cilantro and lettuce. Warm tortilla and fill as desired with meat, beans, and the rest of the good..YUMO!
crock pot...screams cozy doesn't it.
ReplyDeleteI can just smell it from Waaay up here in Canada.
I love good crock pot recipes... and this one looks great! I'll definitely give it a try! Thank You!
ReplyDeleteI like doing a brisket in my crock pot with spices on top! We use the crock pot more here in the condo! ♥
ReplyDeleteYou can be sure I will be copying this easy sounding recipe. I know my family would like it! My favorite thing to throw in the crockpot...frozen chicken thighs(boneless and skinless), a can of cream of chicken, white cooking wine and sour cream. I serve this over rice or noodles. We like this!
