I had been thinking how nice it would be to have a set of all white dishes for entertaining. White would mix with my Fiestaware and I could add accessories to decorate for any occasion.
I couldn't justify spending a lot of money for a "Want" and not a "Need"...
And then... look what I found on "clearance" at our favorite store... "Tar-jay" (TARGET)...
Yes, ladies...these sets of dishes originally intended for college students were all marked down!
Each set included a plate, bowl and silverware for only... are you ready for this???
$1.43 a set!
Now that I can handle!
I gobbled up a bunch of them....20 to be exact. Hey you never know when you will break one...plus when we have our "Family Sunday Dinners"...we usually have at least 12 - 14 guests!
Just imagine the possibilities... especially for the holidays...
here's a quick peek...

You just know how to do it! Plain white dishes, an unbelievable sale, and you make the tablescapes look like pictures in a magazine! You are so creative! I love finding bargains like this. I also have special, wonderful memories of our big family Sunday dinners. You are making memories for your family, and they will never forget them. We stopped having them...now that we are 42 in number. Maybe...you should have bought 40 sets.
ReplyDeleteOMG What a darling idea and I know you are going to have loads of fun with mixing up your look. Each one so far is just darling! Great thinking.

You are so right about white dish ware. Have you ever wondered why food in gourmet resatraunts looks so special? It is a presentation trick they use by serving most things on white dishes! Its like I always say "when it comes to cooking, presentation is 50% of the meal!! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat find, Carrie!! I know how much fun you had mixing and matching your dishes. I do it all the time now. I used to have Fiestaware in a million colors. It was fun mixing that too, but I admit, the possiblities with white dishes are endless!!

now THAT is an awesome deal!!! imagine how cool they would look in open stacks, like a cook's kitchen! unless it would look too much like a crate&barrel in your own home. i am rambling but yes - possibilities!

SCORE! That is great deal and I agree the white looks great with your fiesta ware.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! God really smiled on you with this one! What an amazing deal! You will have so much fun planning new settings and entertaining with these. So when can I come to dinner? ;-)
ReplyDeleteHugs from WV,
Charlotte
Looking at them without the perks hardly gives them any appeal aside from their characteristic sheen(due to the glaze and lighting). But when you started mixing and matching them with pretty placemats, other plates and other embellishments, whoa! They transformed to elegant pieces of beauty fit for a special family dinner or lunch.
ReplyDeleteCarrie honest to God, how do you always strike it rich. I love them. I love even more how you placed them with the colourful items.
ReplyDeleteYou really do make everything cozy.
I love the picture of you and your husband. You are beautiful Carrie.
Love Renee xoxo
WOW!!!! What a great deal you got here...I sure love to get good deals at Target...I got a candle, two scrapbooks and some plates for my sister the other day for 75% off...and I was one happy little lady! Thanks for coming by for a visit and I hope you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
