Berry Berry Fun for Rednesday!

I love to go "Berry Picking" ...it's such a wonderful, relaxed way to spend a lazy summer afternoon!
We picked berries...

(My daughter Shannon, myself and my daughter, Taryn)

Visited the Country Store....

....and then had a little picnic at Champoeg Park.
(my silly daughter Taryn and my niece Meagan)
Midway between Portland and Salem, Oregon, Champoeg is almost like stepping into rural 19th-century America. A walk will take you along the Willamette River, through forest, farmland and prairie, and past the site of an important pioneer town that was swept away in the great Willamette Flood of 1861.

It was a beautiful day!
When we got home....we made some homemade "red" raspberry sorbet
...in my ice cream maker!

Yummy!

  12. That sorbet looks scrumptious! I remember going blueberry picking with my parents when I was little, and I hated it! It seemed like it was always the hottest day of the summer. But I've never picked raspberries, so maybe I should get over my childhood trauma and give it a try! Looks like it was a fun time, spent with your daughters!
    Happy REDnesday!

  20. Oh how this brings back memories of when my daughter and I used to pick strawberries. We used to get up very early. I loved the feel and smell of the crisp morning air and sweet berries! When I was young I used to take the bus to the fields to make my summer spending money. That was big money back then!! LOL!! Thanks for the walk down memory lane this morning~ Sherry F.

  28. Well how flippin' fun is this! Love this post!
I had a business trip up in Washington State YEARS ago, and I took my Mom along, and we stopped at a raspberry stand so she could pick a basket. (She grew up in WA State.) She no more than sat down in the car and had inhaled the entire basket before I could get on the road. I pulled over and just looked at her and started cracking up! "They were soooo good Karen!" was all she could say. :) Great memory! Tanks for that.
(I will trade you here for Oregon ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!) :)
Hugs! Karen ~ Some days are diamonds
