If only I was born on February 29th - I would be 16 yrs old! LOL
Oops - did I just give away my age?
Even though the standard calendar year is 365 days, the Earth
actually takes 365 days 5 hours 48 minutes and 46 seconds to go
completely around the sun. In order to keep the calendar cycle synchronized with the seasons, one extra day is (usually) added every four years as February 29th.
Consider doing something fun this leap year to celebrate.
You could write a letter to yourself to be opened four years later on the next
Leap year.
Leap year.
Make some yummy frog inspired treats.
You could make some "Leap Year" bookmarks to give to your friends...
Or enjoy a cup of "green tea" in the morning...
But by all means do something to celebrate this leap year ...
or you will have to wait four more years!
Happy Leap Year!
Carrie
Hi Carrie. Thank you so much for visiting and following me! I see that we have a lot in common. I love organizing, especially cleaning out cabinets and drawers. It calms me down. This is the first I knew that it is leap year! Your blog is so cheerful and inviting. And I love your mug! I love mugs, and can never resist buying new ones. But that means more cabinet organizing. I think I have reached the limit. The frog bookmarks and treats are adorable! I may try to make the gumdrop cupcake one. I am off now to add you to my sidebar.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun post, I have never thought about doing something for leap year before.
ReplyDeleteA very cute post. Great photos. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought about a Leap Year celebration, but will add it to my calendar. Have a great Sunday!
ReplyDeleteOh, look how beautiful you are, my sweet friend.

Hello Carrie, I'm so glad you dropped by my blog and left a comment. I love finding blog friends with similar interests!! I'm sure I'll be back to visit you soon and hope you'll do likewise!!
ReplyDeleteCute post. My older sister WAS born on Leap Year in 1944! We always did something special for her every 4 years, besides the yearly birthdays. She passed away last August, which was so sad.. so this Leap Year especially I will do something very special to honor her. She would have been 19 this Leap Year! Marilyn
ReplyDeleteHi Carrie! I followed you, too! Thank you for coming by my blog!
ReplyDeleteLeap year is a funny thing! I like your frog idea.
It's so nice to meet you!
I always loved that February had 28 days, and that it was different than all the other months. Those green cupcakes look so Yummy. And a delightful picture of you, Carrie.
ReplyDeleteHappy February!

Thanks for the inspiration to think to do some thing that day. I will actually be in Silverton for a meeting that day, but thinking I must take my camera to take a walk and snap some pictures. My realtor is having a contest to see what pictures are taken in that place in time. What fun! Hoping you have fun and thanks for visiting me at Delights of the Heart.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post. I wrote a comment earlier today, but I think it didn't post. I will try again. My realtor is having a contest for sending in a picture on Feb 29th of your day. I will be in Springfield that day for a meeting, but hoping to get out enough to take a picture somewhere in that area - maybe the Oregon Garden. Happy 29th!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of a cup of Green Tea in the morning thats one of my favorite teas!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, I went to school with a girl whose brother was born on leap day.
ReplyDeleteAlways seemed strange to me, though they celebrate his birthday
each year. But each Leap Day was a big celebration.
Enjoy your Leap Day fun!
