I picked up this wonderful book the other day...dated 1961.
What do you think of the styles back then?
Hard to imagine decorating like this these days...
perhaps there are small touches we can use...
but remember everything old is new again!
Stay Cozy,
Carrie
There are touches in each of the pages of your book that could be interpreted today. I rather love the last room. I wouldn't mind those chairs at all. Your book is a great find, Carrie.
ReplyDeleteI must admit there were elements there that I do remember.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos. Have a wonderful day and lovely month of February.
ReplyDeleteI remember some of those color themes. The last picture was pretty ahead of itself for the 60's. That is very similar to today's colors and style. Have a great weekend.

Wow! Those are a bit of a shocker! That's 2 years before I was born. I don't remember walls being so dark/painted back then. My mom was an "antique white" girl, with Williamsburg green/blue trim on everything. It's fun to look back on those trends, but it feels heavy to me.
ReplyDeleteWell, I do REMEMBER them!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to see all the old styles of decorating, even the old furniture. I always admired the white French Provincial furniture, and dreamed of having a whole bedroom in that. This was a charming era for home.

Carrie, what a fun post! Love those photos. I remember seeing a bedroom "set" of that off-white faux French Provincial in the Sears catalog when I was a little girl and loving it!
