I'm a Basket Case...

Baskets can be difficult to store.
There are so many shapes and sizes...
I keep a variety of baskets on hand to use for
gift baskets I put together for friends and clients,
to transport baked goods to and from places
or to hold supplies I need to carry somewhere.

But where do you keep them???

I strung this chain across the wall in front of my
craftroom window and use hooks to store my baskets
up and out of the way!

My baskets are right there, in plain sight, where I can
choose and grab the one I need.

How about you? Any ideas for "basket storage"?

Stay Cozy,
Carrie

  1. omg the way you store your basekts would drive me insane!!! I'm such a minimalist now!! I used to LOVE and collect Shaker style baskets (we live in the original shaker area of NYS) and so I hung mine around my kitchen ....on the uppero part of the wall.....it was SOOOOO 1990s. And then about 3 years ago I got sick and tired of dusting them all the time and sick and tired of the cluttered look so I tossed them all out or gave them away to friends who wanted them. I kept a couple and they are stored in the basement on a shelf nestled inside each other. My bread basket is stored in a dining room cupboard.

  2. I like the way you store your baskets! I too have many and I store them on shelves that are in a closet under our basement stairs. Today I went down and retrieved one for my embroidery project. They are so versatile. ♥

  4. Such a simple but very effective idea for storing them. Sadly mine are stored in a box in the barn until the barn is converted for my craftroom.

  5. I think the way you have displayed your baskets is inspired. Not only are they functional they look as pretty as a picture hanging there. Such an inspired, Carrie.

  7. What a great collection. I love how you have them hanging. I seem to have all of my baskets being used and holding something. Of course my collection is not as big as yours!!!

  8. Great idea!!! I love baskets...especially Longaberger baskets … hehehe!!! I used to hang my baskets from my pot rack at the old house. Our new current kitchen is small. I use my baskets to hold or hide stuff throughout our home. I'll be copying your idea to hang my stored baskets just like you...in my craft room. TFS

  9. Great way to store them. I had a collection that I hung off of an old ladder hung from the ceiling in my laundry room. They were a display piece and also functional when I needed a basket. So this is a great way to store them.
    Happy Friday.

  11. That's a great idea! I used to have lots of baskets, but never had room to put them.. every shelf in my house was crammed with "stuff". I would keep moving them around. Finally I got tired of them, so threw most of them away or put them in a yard sale. I have a couple of large ones that I use to put magazines in. I love them but in a small house, just no room even for those as very minimal floor space. I now have none, unless it's a square or rectangular one that I can put on a shelf side by side. I told hubby DON'T buy me anymore baskets as he was always buying them for me at the thrift store! I love them but just no room. I like the idea of maybe having one hook on the ceiling that I could hang 2 or 3 from.. to use like you said, for giving gifts in.

  13. I thought about doing that in my She Shed. It's really tall and the baskets wouldn't be in the way. I went so far as to getting the chain out of the garage, but then I had surgery on my leg. I'm healing slowly and don't know when I'll be up on a ladder again. But, I'm saving a pic from your post on my desktop to remind me to go for it.

  14. Hi, thank you for visiting and leaving a comment on my blog.
I'm a fan of baskets too but only have a couple. Yours displayed that way look SO good. Old baskets are very expensive to buy in this country which is a shame.

  15. Hello! LOVED meeting you today in my plight for another chair. Mom said she could be a basket hoarder if she would allow herself the luxury!
